Frequently Asked Questions

My Friend’s House Shelter

Q: What are the requirements for being admitted to the youth shelter?

A: My Friends House accepts referrals from a wide variety of resources including Child Protective Services, schools, law enforcement officers, the juvenile justice system, and concerned citizens.

TRIPS

Q: Who is TRIPS for?

A: TRIPS, Transitional Resources in Preparation for Success, is for young adults ages 18-21, who are homeless or facing potential homelessness. These young adults need assistance transitioning to the responsibilities of adulthood. TRIPS offers both residential and non-residential program options. Individuals interested in the residential program must be at least 18 years old and have to apply, qualify, and be accepted into the program.

Q: Are the services free?

A: There is no cost for the services provided; however, individuals in the residential program are required to pay $150 per month for “rent.” This money is placed into an account for the resident and is given to the resident when they leave the program. It may be used for a down payment on an apartment or vehicle or whatever they need upon graduating from our program.
