Imagine yourself in the following situations: You
are 16 years old. You and your mother
have been having terrible arguments. One day the argument is worse
than ever and you can't handle it. You run away.
You
are 11 and your mother is a drug addict.
She leaves you alone, scared and hungry most of the time. You are 15 years old and your father beats you.
Child Protective Services removes you from your home after a teacher
reports suspected abuse after seeing you with a black eye and several
bruises. You are 14 and pregnant. You've just
told your parents and they tell you to get out of their house. These are just a few of the ways that teens become homeless.
For
20 years, CITY House has been providing a safe environment for 10 to 17 year
olds in the only teen
homeless shelter in Collin County.
CITY Family Center has been providing
free counseling to families since 1996 to help resolve their physical
and emotional crises. The CITY House Family Counseling Center provides
short–term crisis counseling services at no cost to children of all ages and
their families. We now provide Counseling services at Rockwall and in Frisco.
The Transitional Living Program,
begun in 2001, has been helping older teens and young adults learn the skills
needed to lead independent and productive lives. We have two new Plano TRIPS
locations: Boys Boyd home and Girls Goodman home. Transitional Living Program helps young adults between the age group of 18
and 21 to develop the skills and resources to become independent and productive
members of the community.

Join us in
building CITY House’s newest project,
My Friend’s House.
This new program will provide emergency, short-term shelter for
children ages newborn to nine years old that have been removed from
their homes due to abuse, abandonment, or neglect. The construction
is under way at 6525 Independence Parkway, Plano, TX 75023. In April
2008, we had heavy wind damages. We have started rebuilding in May.
Please help us in rebuilding the shelter.
"The CITY House shelter and Family Center provide
essential services to the children of our community.
If not for CITY House, the intervention that currently
takes place would not exist."
