Our story
A hidden population
Homelessness amongst young people in Plano exists, but to many this is a hidden population because frankly, we do not see it. Whether it be through couch-surfing, jumping between emergency shelters, staying in abandoned buildings, riding and sleeping on DART trains throughout the night, youth exist within the homeless population in Plano.
Our Vision
Every child & young adult can live a safe, healthy & renewed life while coping with traumatic circumstances.

Our story
Founded in 1988, by PISD school counselor Nancy Boyd, and educator Kay Goodman, what began as a 6-bed teen shelter has grown into a 48-bed multi-faceted agency that includes a children’s emergency shelter, three transitional living homes, free individual & family counseling services, street outreach, and a Youth Resource & Community Outreach Center.
Serving Collin & Dallas County and the majority of North Texas, the mission of City House is to provide emergency shelter, transitional residential living and street outreach programs and services to at-risk children, youth and young adults (newborn to 22 years) who are in need due to abuse, neglect or homelessness.
